I’ve once heard it explained this way. Imagine a wide line drawn through space. Put your lifetime, about 70 years, on the center of the line. Now look to the left, the line extends to eternity. Look to the right, it’s no shorter on that side. Stand back as far as you can, (spiritually, of course) and examine your life in the context of the line. If you were to “zoom” out far enough, you would barely see your life and eventually you wouldn’t in comparison to the length of the line. Zoom out a bit further and you’ll see mankind equally small and seemingly insignificant.
But besides our temporal existence in this current life, we are forever beings, as God created us. God has lived the length of the line you saw. Mankind is God’s creation determined to live in a temporal body only a space, then man enters fully into the long line of eternity with God.
This temporary world is only a qualifying round. Once you’ve qualified, by salvation, it becomes a training ground. Remember today the line of eternity and consider your place on it. We have only a second, a moment to say “yes” to God and enjoy the beauties of this earth. Remember you are eternal, as your Father in Heaven is eternal!
