Nothing excites families like welcoming a new baby. Recently, I had the privilege of being part of a baby-welcoming party. Watching my friend grow with her pregnancy, seeing the grandparents prepare for the event, witnessing the joy of the shower--all of this was wonderful but it didn't compare to actually being there to hear those faint cries of life.

New life brings people together, it encourages those families to forget the hard times, the rough times and gives them hope for the future. Isn't this what we all need? In a spiritual sense this is true too. New ministry, new steps in evangelism, bring that same excitement to your life and to your church.

I have to admit, the happy event triggered some God-thoughts in my own life. How long had it been since I'd had a "baby?" Not figuratively of course, but in the spiritual world. Upon reflection my life seemed pretty empty. I'd had babies (ministries) before but it had been a long time. The crib was still up and once in a while I'd purchase something for the future but no real baby ever arrived. I was happy to prepare but never real welcomed a baby.

It's time to dust off the cribs, hang up the decorations and welcome a new baby. Quit putting off those Spirit-nudges that say, "Yes, you can!" and "Yes, you must!" Launch that ministry and watch the welcoming family come. Don't be afraid to love a "baby" one more time. I don't know about you, but I'm ready to have a baby!
