Living on the Gulf Coast, I know all about devastating storms. My family and I have evacuated from the path of a hurricanes and hunkered down in hallways to hide from tornadoes. When you have several days notice, it's easy to prepare for the worst. You have time to plan, pack and pray. But those sudden storms, like the tornadoes that whipped up this past weekend are the ones that hit us the hardest. The fact is, sometimes you pray before the storm; sometimes the opportunity to pray is only after. A fortunate few of us pray during the storm. I wish I could say that I always remembered to pray when the roaring of a tornado is passing over my family. Most of the time, I hold my children close and my faith in God closer.
Today, let's pray for those left behind in the wake of the sudden storms. Now is the time to pray for healing, for peace and supply. Let's pray for the children who've lost their homes, families and schools. Let's pray for the parents left to figure out to cope with such great loss. Let's pray for a storm shook country. The storms have passed, it is time to pray!
