Is there anything more fun than teaching a baby to find it's ears? When I'm fortunate enough to play with little ones, I love leading the Find Your Ears game. The joy of seeing a child's excitement when his ears have finally been found! In his mind, he probably found something no one else had seen before, and he did it all by himself! (well, kind of) Recently God played this same game with me. For those of you who don't like the analogy, I'm a kid at heart and God knows I love a good game!
For weeks, I had been battling negative internal voices that nagged me daily about my failures and gave me all the reasons why I shouldn't try and why I'd inevitably fail. My voice raged the loudest, but don't think the enemy of my soul didn't stop by to add a few things to the stress. I heard things like, "Wow you missed it this time," and "See, that's what they all think about you." By the end of the two weeks, I felt defeated, down and dare I say, even depressed.
My freedom came when I heard a message my Pastor preached. While listening to the anointed preaching, God began to speak to me directly, confirming the words preached, working beautifully with Pastor's exhortations. She preached, "Those voices in your mind can't over power or overtake the voice of your spirit man. He can't be overtaken because He is the Holy Spirit." Suddenly, the blinders came off and I could see myself with three pairs of ears!
The natural pair that does little more than pick up natural sounds. Then I saw the mental ears that funneled in all the enemy's propaganda. Those ears filtered his evil messages into my own beliefs and mixed it with my faith. As he did this, my own voice became negative and soon I sang a duet with the very one I wished to defeat.
Thirdly, I saw a pair of spiritual ears, only they weren't located on my head as the other two were. They were located on my abdomen. Those ears only heard the words of God. Only the Spirit ruled here. No attempts to understand were necessary, He knew all, saw all and was all.
I cried with joy when I realized that I had found my ears! There they were, right where I had left them, safely protected by a loving God who only speaks to my spirit. Thank you God for playing this game with me! I love you!
